Position Summary
As a part-time Occupational Therapist with OPiH, you will provide comprehensive occupational therapy assessments, treatments, and care for clients residing in long-term care, retirement, and assisted living facilities. This role requires working on rotation between Elizabeth Bruyère Residence (Downtown Ottawa) and St-Louis Residence (East Ottawa). You will work closely with the interdisciplinary team to support clients’ functional independence and overall well-being.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct initial occupational therapy assessments and develop individualized care plans.
Provide expert recommendations and assist in goal-setting and discharge planning.
Implement evidence-based interventions focused on improving occupational performance.
Monitor and review client progress regularly, adjusting interventions as needed.
Perform mobility assessments, including Assistive Device Program (ADP) evaluations.
Conduct restorative discussions and provide education to staff on best practices.
Carry out quarterly seating equipment reviews and recommend appropriate adaptive equipment.
Assess, adjust, and perform minor repairs on therapeutic equipment.
Complete restraint and PASD assessments and follow-up evaluations as requested.
Collaborate in team meetings to support clients’ achievement of therapeutic goals.
Maintain and manage therapy equipment and supplies.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Occupational Therapy.
Current registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario.
CPR certification.
ADP certification or willingness to obtain certification promptly.
Minimum 3 years of clinical experience preferred, ideally in long-term care or geriatric settings.
Expertise in managing chronic diseases considered an asset.
Strong physical assessment and treatment planning skills.
Excellent organizational, time management, and communication abilities.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
Commitment to resident-centered care and best practice standards.
Bilingual fluency in French and English is required.
Flexibility and reliable transportation to work on rotation between both sites.
